Rating Guide

The ratings are a measure of a site's apparent completeness of content. They do not reflect upon an organization's fitness as a vendor or on the reliability of the content or its provider.

Business Card	The site provides just contact and brief discription information.
Advertising Content/BrochureWare	The site provides some information about the organization, products, or services. Little dynamic or time-sensitive content. Insuffient information to make a final purchase decision or to fully understand the function of the organization the site describes.
Good Website	The site provides all or nearly all of the basic information about an organization and its products or services. The site is not missing any major content that sites in that industry typically have. The site will have sufficient information for a visitor to make a purchase decision or to understand the organization the site describes. Visitors can customize their view of the content and/or communicate two-way with the site's organization.
Very Good Website	The site goes beyond the basic information about an organization. Functionality has been added that makes use of the Internet's strengths. Visitor needs are obviously understood by the organization and provided for.

Notes:

Out of date time-sensitive content is not counted toward a site's rating.
Poor design will detract from a rating (the content may be there, but since it is annoying to access it will be downgraded).
Sites where the content has been gratuitously spread out over multiple pages to make the site seem more complete will not gain any credit for this.
Placeholders for future content will not be assumed to ever be filled in with content when we make a rating.
The bar is continually being raised--we continuously expect more content for a particular rating in a particular category.
